FreezeReport is an independent review and buying-advice site about fridge freezers. Our aim is simple: help you choose the right model for your kitchen, honestly, without hype.
Why FreezeReport exists
Buying a fridge freezer is more confusing than it should be. The market is full of near-identical models with subtly different capacities, energy ratings that changed meaning overnight when the labels were rescaled, and reviews that read like they were written by the marketing department. We started FreezeReport to cut through that — to test the models that are genuinely available in the UK and tell you plainly which one suits which kitchen, and where each one falls short.
We believe a good review tells you who a product isn't for as clearly as who it is. A slim 262-litre unit is the wrong buy for a family of five; a deep 360-litre workhorse is the wrong buy for a galley kitchen. Most of our advice comes down to matching the appliance to the household — and we'd rather say that plainly than sell you the most expensive thing on the page.
Who writes our reviews
Our reviews are written by Eleanor Whitcombe, a kitchen appliance reviewer who has spent years testing and comparing fridges, freezers and other large kitchen appliances. Eleanor buys the models, installs them as you would, fills them with a realistic weekly shop, and judges them on the things that matter in everyday use: how evenly they hold temperature, how much usable space you really get, how quiet they are in a quiet kitchen, whether the freezer is genuinely frost-free, and how much they cost to run. The verdicts you read here come from hands-on use, not spec sheets.
How we stay independent
FreezeReport is funded by affiliate commissions: when you buy a product through one of our links, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That funding lets us keep the site free and keep testing. Crucially, it does not buy a place in our rankings. We are not paid by manufacturers to feature or favour their products, and our order is decided by how the appliances perform — never by who pays the most. What we cover — and what we don't
We focus narrowly on freestanding fridge freezers because that's where we can be genuinely useful. Rather than spreading ourselves across every cooling appliance, we go deep on the tall, freestanding models most people actually buy: how much space you really get, how the fridge-to-freezer split works in practice, how even the cooling is, and how much each one costs over its long life. That focus is deliberate. A site that reviews everything tends to review nothing well, and cold storage is a category where small, practical details — the height of a salad drawer, the layout of the door shelves, the noise of the compressor at night — make the difference between an appliance you love and one you regret.
We don't cover integrated (built-in) models, American-style side-by-sides or commercial refrigeration in depth, except where understanding them helps you make a better freestanding fridge freezer decision. If a different kind of appliance is the right answer for your situation, we'll say so plainly rather than push you towards a product just because we can link to it. Honest guidance sometimes means telling you to look elsewhere.
How we keep our advice current
The fridge freezer market refreshes every year. Models are discontinued, replaced or rebadged, prices swing through the year, and a model that was excellent value last year can be quietly superseded. We revisit our rankings regularly, update prices and availability, and replace models that are no longer the best choice for their buyer. When a recommended model is discontinued, we don't leave a dead end — we point you to the closest current alternative and explain why. Our goal is that whenever you read a recommendation here, it reflects what we'd actually buy today.
Who we write for
Most of our readers are dealing with a very ordinary problem: their old fridge freezer has died or no longer fits the household, and they want one good recommendation without wading through a wall of jargon. Families need to know what will hold a week's shop; couples and flat-dwellers need to know what will fit a narrow kitchen; everyone wants to avoid an appliance that's noisy or expensive to run. We write for those people first — the person who wants a clear answer and a plain explanation, not a 5,000-word essay or a sea of affiliate buttons.
